In Hues and Shades of Portugal
Portugal was a shower of colours and light.
The gold of the cliffs. The deep blue of the Atlantic. The warmth of the evening sun. Everything seemed more vivid, as if the landscape had been painted with a richer palette than the one I was used to.
Standing on the coastline, with the scent of salt in the air and the sound of waves below, I found myself looking beyond the horizon and wondering what lay further ahead. Perhaps that is what the great Portuguese explorers felt centuries ago. Faced with the same ocean, the same horizon, and the same uncertainty, they chose to sail towards the unknown. Looking out across the Atlantic, it was easy to understand why. The sea carries a sense of possibility. It asks what lies beyond and whether we are willing to find out.
As the waves rolled onto the shore, I realised that all exploration begins with a question: What lies beyond?
Beyond its landscapes, history, and culture, Portugal awakened the curiosity to wonder what lies beyond the horizon.
